In Memory of Gordon White
As Gordon White wrote in his remarkable Star.Ships:
“You are never more conscious of the paucity of magical or ritual knowledge among mainstream historians than when reading their interpretations of the Heb Sed festival.”
So in is honor I will be holding The Heb Sed An Immersive Visualization of the Ancient Egyptian Rite
I will also conduct my version of an Egyptian lament for him …
a ritual of grieving, purifying with water, burning incense, and sharing a simple food offering to guide the spirit and comfort the living.
This is a shared act of remembrance offered in honor of a mind that helped many of us encounter the ancient world as something living, mysterious, and profoundly magical. I warmly invite you to take part.
